Profile of Atta Boakye Yiadom

Advisory Board member, Atta B Yiadom

Mr. Atta Boakye Yiadom is Project Manager, East Bay Municipal Utility District, Oakland, California. He is a registered Professional Engineer in California with 20 years of experience, with the last 16 years at the East Bay Municipal Utility District in Oakland, California. Mr. Yiadom has performed and managed numerous seismic studies of dams and has directed the planning, design, and construction of dam seismic upgrades. His current primary role is to manage the development of project alternatives and preliminary engineering for the $50-million plus San Pablo Dam Modifications Project in Contra Costa County, California.

Mr. Yiadom has a B.S. (Civil Engineering) and B.A. (Economics) both from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania and an M.S. (Civil/Geotechnical Engineering) from the University of California, Berkeley.

Atta was born in Ghana, where he completed his secondary education before relocating to the U.S. He was the Sports Director of Kwadaso SDA Primary School (1962-63) and has some inspirational stories to tell about how primary students, without much adult assistance, financial or otherwise, managed to run highly organized, competitive and successful soccer matches and about how these youthful experiences have translated into confidence to tackle the myriad challenges in life.
